MERTHER'S DER

You know how today was Mother's Day? Remember that? How fun, right?!

Well, the best thing about Mother's Day, besides celebrating how awesome moms are, is being able to talk to your missionary siblings through Skype! (Shoutout, Skype.)

So, today, we got to chat with these two kool kids via the interwebs.

Kaycee, being the spiritual beast that she is, decided to share two Mother's Day scriptures with us. So, here they are:

"And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.
So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son."
-Kings 6:28-29

"It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman."
-Proverbs 21:19

Soooo...yeah. Happy Mother's Day!

Forty Thousand Million Things

You know when life throws a thousand things at you all at once? Yeah, me too.

I know you guys don't really wanna read about what's been going on in my life, cause that's kinda boring. But, guess what I'm going to do!! I'm going to write about what's been going on in my life anyways!

So, I haven't written on this little old blog of mine since before this current semester. Now that it's coming to the close of this semester, I might as well tell you a little bit about what's been going on!

As you should probably know, I'm going to school for Cosmetology. I MAKE PEOPLE LOOK PRETTY!!!! This semester has been super awesome! This was the first semester that I was out on the floor, working on real life clients! It was the scariest! It IS the scariest! I get the worst anxiety! What if I mess up a haircut and the client gets angry at me? What if I do an awesome job on the haircut and the client is still angry with me? Then my feelings are hurt! Anyways, those are just a few of my concerns. But, I still love it. So much!

This semester, I also auditioned for institute choir. I loved it so much! We practiced every Wednesday and it was so nice to be in a choir again! I met a lot of great people in choir and had a lot of great experiences.

Anyways, remember when I said that sometimes life throws ten million things at you at once? Okay, I said one thousand. But, I actually meant like maybe ten. Well, last Friday, we went to good ole' Salt Lake City for institute choir. We got to perform in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square on Friday night! It was so exciting! We met in the morning, practiced, left, practiced on the way, arrived in Salt Lake, practiced, ate, and then performed. It was super great except for the fact that I WAS SO SICK THE ENTIRE TIME SO I WAS NO FUN! I'm typically a pretty fun person. But not when I'm sick! So...that kinda sucks. Anyways, my amazing brother and sister-in-law came to hear me sing! I was so pleased. They even took me to get food afterwards with my cousin, Jason, and friend, Chris! What wonderful people!

After that was finished, I was like, "Yay!! I don't have to stress about anything else for a while now!" Nope. We had another choir thing the Sunday right after. Not that that was stressful, but the day was stressful. I went straight from church to ward choir practice(not even my own ward), to stake choir practice, to institute choir practice, to the performance. But, it was so great! My mother, father, sister, and grandmothers came to listen!! What gems! We sounded so good. I'm sad that choir is over.

ANYWHO, once that was over, I thought, again, that I could relax for a little bit. But, then I remembered that we had a fashion show for school! A few dress shops from here had a fashion show to showcase their dresses and one of the shops asked our school to do the hair for their models! So, I did finger waves on my cute model, Makena!

I was super happy with how they turned out. All of the girls that did hair for models did such a great job! They all looked so amazing!
These are only a few of the models. Also, this picture doesn't even do the models, the hair, or the dresses justice. Everything was absolutely stunning.
Here are all of the models. But, once again, the picture just doesn't do it justice.

Once that was over, I had a few whole days to kind of do nothing. Key word, Kind of. I still had things going on. THEN I WENT HOME FOR EASTER AND GOT TO SEE MY FAMILY AGAIN!

When I got back to school, I got to jump right back into the madness. We had a hair competition last night. A bunch of surrounding schools came and we had a competition and hair show. There were a few different categories like mens' haircutting, womens' cut and color, ladies formal, fantasy, and avant garde. I entered the ladies formal and did finger waves again. They didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. This hair was a bit harder to work with, which was a bummer. But, it still turned out beautiful, I thought. Anyways, they announced the winners and then one of the judges came up to me afterwards and said that they all had me as their number one and that they were all confused when they announced a different name. So, in my brain, I won. Fair? I think so.

Now maybe I can relax again! Except, I have to move soon..by myself. If anybody feels like coming to help me move here in the next few weeks, feel free!! If not, that's cool, too.

I love you all!

Some things never change.

When I was about ten, I was in charge of a family home evening lesson and I decided to play a little trick on my family. I told them that they were going to draw a name of a family member and then they had to write 5 nice things about the family member whose name they had drawn. When we were all done, we would read those things out loud. But, instead of putting every person's name in the bowl, I wrote my name on every piece of paper. So, they all had to write five nice things about me.

When my dad started reading the five nice things that he wrote, my older sister was the first to say, "Wait! I had Becca!" It didn't take more than a second for everybody to realize that they had been bamboozled into writing five nice things about me. That's when I started laughing hysterically. Just imagine little ten year old me laughing maniacally. (My laugh has been described many times as a "cackle," just in case that helps you to imagine this.)

A Great Calf Workout

Last Monday, I went to Salt Lake with these hooligans to see Bastille in concert.

I don't know exactly how to describe it because if I describe it exactly the way that I feel about it, you'll probably think that I'm exaggerating. And, I never exaggerate. Ever. I've never exaggerated in my life. Not once. Ever. I've literally never exaggerated even once in my whole entire life.

Anyways, I'm just going to say that it was an extremely fun night and an AMAZING concert. That's really the only way that I'm going to describe it but please just know that I mean so much more.

The highlight of the concert: TOUCHING THE LEAD SINGER, DAN SMITH, RIGHT ON THE SHOULDER. NO BIG DEAL, BUT I LITERALLY TOUCHED HIM. PHYSICALLY. HE WAS REAL. My only regret was touching his shoulder instead of his hair. Why didn't I go for the hair?

The lowlight of the concert: Being too short to see anything and having people over a head taller than me standing directly in front of me. My calves hurt the next morning from jumping the whole time and standing on my toes to see the stage.

If you don't know who Bastille is, you should. You'd probably recognize this song:

Also, watch this:

You're welcome.

My two favorite songs by them would probably be Laura Palmer and Oblivion. Feel free to look those two songs up. Once again, you're welcome.

They also do covers. Here's Blue Jeans, by Lana Del Rey:

Other covers that they do include We Can't Stop, Of the Night, and I Just Died in Your Arms.

And, AGAIN, you're welcome.

Have a nice night. Spend it looking up Bastille songs and falling madly in love.

Peace & Blessings

Mediocre. At best.

The story of a lifetime, people.

Once upon a time,  we were going to a corn maze. I love corn mazes, guys!

Anyways, my cousin, Jason, was driving and we were with our friend, Pono, and a random guy that I had just barely met, literally 2 minutes before.

Don't ask why, but Pono was texting his friend about all of my "good qualities" and so he turned to the random guy that I had just met and he said, "Hey, you've only known Becca for a few short moments. What would you say is her most attractive quality?"

Listen to how this tall, bigger, bald, not handsome man answered. He said, "I'm going to be 198% honest right now. She's mediocre. At best. But, if she did something with her hair, she could be kinda pretty."

That's literally what he said.

And you know what I did?

I laughed hysterically. Then he went on to say, "I mean, I've liked a lot of mediocre looking girls. They just had something about them that made them super attractive."

And, I said, "So, you're saying that I need a new personality, too?"

Some people just don't know how to use their words correctly, guys.

All Hallow's Eve

Halloween was pure party.

We dressed up for class.

After class, I went to a High School football game with my homegurl Breanne to watch her brother kick butt. (They started playing What Does the Fox Say? at the game and her brother stood down on the field and just started dancing. I was so proud.)

Then Breanne, Mickayla, Makena, and I went and ate FREE food and then we went to Texas Roadhouse where it wasn't free..but it was good.

THEN, we went and had a dance party!

And a small photo shoot..

So...that happened.
